My Story

Delana Pruitt, Natural Hair Stylist/Coach to the local Stars. My mission is to encourage others to love and wear their Natural Hair as many other cultures do, deal with our God-given natural texture, remove the negative stigma & views of our hair, and make it a way of life...The Norm!
I currently reside in Greenville, SC, where I was born and raised.  I am a graduate of Winthrop University in Business Marketing. I lived in Charlotte, NC for many years, and now I am back home and I love it.

I have mainly worked in Corporate and Nonprofit Fields. I have an entrepreneurial spirit along with love for the "au naturalle" and natural bodycare-(delasense-my past natural body jellies, creams, and oils). I've always avoided taking medicine, by seeking the natural alternative for anything. I have been on and off with my natural hair journey, and my weightloss journey.  I dig natural foods and try my best to make the best food choices.  I have so many ideas and I feel this blog will help me free my mind. I love sharing my ideas, product choices, and natural remedies with people.  My family is small and tight- My momma, sister, Kinston, and my boo Rael.  My father is recently deceased-he has always encouraged me to be the best I can be.  He encouraged me and my self-expression. He helped build the confidence I have today. Thank you Daddy! Thank you Family! Thank God!
I am a wonderfully blessed mommy with a healthy, highly active BOY! When Kinston was born, I was determined to have natural birth(fail), to breastfeed(yay), use non-BPA bottles, feed him natural foods, and use natural products on his precious skin(success).
I like being the "go to" person.  If I do not have the answer, I will try my hardest to find it.  My side hustles have been party promotions, bridal makeup application, and kitchen styling.  I want to be the master of all trades I love, opposed to the jack... My trades-natural hair styling, makeup application, and clothes styling.  I aspire to be the natural version of Kim Kimble/June Ambrose, not necessarily for Celebrity-don't get me wrong, I will, but in SC-not gonna happen, but ya neva know.
I want to assist the everyday person that has an idea or even no clue of the look they want, and help them naturally express themselves.  I have had a couple of offers from salon owners to work in their salons part time. We'll see...luckily all you need in SC is a Braider Registration.  For now, I will remain a natural kitchen stylist/coach, and I have some plans in the near future.

2-Attend natural hair styling classes and strengthen my skills
3-Build contacts and clientele
3-SC State Board Certified Cosmetologist, or own a Natural Haircare Salon

I am a determined, patient individual that can work with almost anyone. As I meet people, my question is, "have you considered going natural?"  I am on a quest to encourage many to brave the natural hair journey/adventure.  Keep tuning in to KinksMyWay as I continue to take control of the kinks in hair & life.
